The Plant
Orange began to move around at the beginning of the Christian Era. The linguistic transformations in its name give evidence of these wanderings, beginning with the Persian word narang, which became naranj in Arabic, arancia in Italian, and orange in French. The earliest reference to orange in Italy dates to 1471, in the records of the town of Savona.
