Calamus essential oil is drawn exclusively from the root of the plant. A salivation stimulant, it aides digestion, soothes gastric difficulties, and is shown to be an appreciable ripost in the struggle against anorexic tendencies.

Essential oil obtained by steam distillation of the roots of acorus calamus L.
The Plant
An aquatic bullrush, calamus acore stretches its large leaves along riverbanks or near ponds. It grows in both hemispheres and has always been utilised. To the Cree indians of Canada its root serves as a chew, stimulating the appetite of older persons, while young people use it to combat fatigue.
Caution
Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Keep away from children.

Heavy earth-root odour, mildly sweet and aromatic, with a secondary bitter note. Nuancer in spicy and herbaceous notes.
