Ferula gumosa / Ex-Ferula galbaniflua Boiss. & Buhse

Benefits and Qualities

Galbanum essential oil comes from a milky liquid which seeps from the roots after an incision. It has vitalizing qualities and stimulates energy while also acting as an active anti-inflammatory. It is indicated as well for any kind of sports activity.

Production

Essential oil obtained by hydrodistillation of gum gathered from incisions on the roots of ferula gumosa ex-ferula galbaniflua Boiss. & Buhse. (Apiaceaes)

The Plant

Galbanum grows in the desert and mountain regions of Iran, but it had already travelled to Egypt by 2,000 B.C., where it is listed in a recipe for a tablet that would perfume the breath. Several Greek authors mention it as an effective pain killer. Today, galbanum is used mainly in the perfume industry whenever a ""green"" fragrance is needed.
