The Plant
What would the forests of southwest France and the Mediterranean countryside be without the seaside pine? It animates the landscape in perfect symbiosis with the wind, the sun, and the coastline. To pass through a pine forest is to wander in the very fragrance of summer. To a dreamer who chooses its shadow, the pine of our temperate climate promises the most serene of moments, a worry-free rest, known more commonly as a "siesta."
