Essential oil cold-extracted using mechanical processes from the outer layer of a part of the fresh middle layer of the fruit of citrus reticulata Blanco, principally cultivated in Italy. (Rutaceaes)
The Plant
The mandarin tree is a citrus that grows freely in Southeast Asia, especially in China. It is very likely that the mandarin derives its name from the Italian ""mandarino,"" for the Chinese mandarin lords for whom the fruit was picked. As with the orange tree, the mandarin has brought forth numerous cultivars because citrus takes well to cross breeding.
