Details

Botanical Name

Citrus reticulata / Blanco

Benefits and Qualities

Citrus essential oils are generally known for their calming qualities. Yellow mandarin is no exception. That's why it is always well received in relaxing massages or as an aerosol in childrens' chambers. Synergies: lavender, lemon, palmarosa, neroli, Roman chamomile.

Production

Essential oil cold-extracted using mechanical processes from the outer layer of a part of the fresh middle layer of the fruit of citrus reticulata Blanco, principally cultivated in Italy. (Rutaceaes)

The Plant

The mandarin tree is a citrus that grows freely in Southeast Asia, especially in China. It is very likely that the mandarin derives its name from the Italian ""mandarino,"" for the Chinese mandarin lords for whom the fruit was picked. As with the orange tree, the mandarin has brought forth numerous cultivars because citrus takes well to cross breeding.

Caution

Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Keep away from children. Photosensitiser: do not expose skin to sunlight after application.

Principes aromatiques

Limonene, gamma-terpinene, alpha- and beta-pinenes, myrcene.

The fresh, striking, and mildly sweet odour of mandarin is used in the perfume industry to introduce fresh and fantasia notes, especially in Eaux de Colognes.
