Production
Absolute obtained by ethanol extraction from concrete of helichrysum italicum (roth) g.don. f. var. picardii boiss and reuter (composed).
Note: This absolute congeals at room temperature. To incorporate in any preparation, the container should be gently heated in water.
The Plant
Cultivated or wild, immortelle grows throughout the Mediterranean. It's botanical name is helichryse, or ""golden sun."" It is also known as ""St. John's flower"" because it is traditionally gathered on St. John's Night. Immortelle absolute is produced from the yellow flowers of the plant. It releases a fruity, amber odour, lightly smokey, with notes of chamomile, curry, and tea. It can be diluted in perfume to add a fruity, warm base note.
